The BMJR Ugly-30
How many times have those of us who fly electric-powered model airplanes asked the question "Why can't the kit manufactures offer more products that allow electric power as an alternative propulsion source?". I know there are many very fine kits on the market that are offered for electric power, but there are also many others that would be good e-power subjects that don’t offer that option in the kit material or building instructions. Well, this appears to be changing in the world of models intended for rubber power. Brian Malin’s BMJR Model Products has recently introduced a kit with a rubber/electric power dual personality. Developed initially as a rubber powered model for the P-30 class duration competition, the BMJR Ugly-30 is also offered as an electric powered R/C park flyer. Brian no doubt noticed that within the park flyer class of our beloved hobby, many modelers were turning to the traditional rubber powered free flights as a source for some very nice slow fly or park fly type models. As a result, BMJR said "Let’s give the purchaser of the Ugly-30 kit the option right up front for building it as a rubber powered free flight, or as an electric powered model for either free flight or R/C park flying". I sure hope many of the other kit manufactures who offer a great selection of rubber powered free flight models will also follow the example set by Brian Malin. For those who like to build as well as fly their park flyers, it sure would open up a lot of possibilities.

bmjr sparky jr. embryo
hey fellas, here is a pic of my 2nd sparky jr. that i scratchbuilt from plans. i lost my first one last monday to a thermal, and it was such a great flier that i built another one. i put a d/t on this one(the wing pops up)... it weighs 19grams without rubber, and i made the prop from a foam coffee cup. i will fly it on 2 loops of 3/32" rubber. i highly recommend this kit if you are looking for a quick building, great looking and flying embryo for this upcomming outdoor season.

BMJR Models Splash-E Electric Flying Boat
The BMJR Models Splash-E is a small flying boat designed for a geared MGK motor. The model was designed by Harry Stewart and featured as a construction article in Fly RC Magazine.
The model is currently being kitted by BMJR Models and contains laser cut parts, CAD drawn plans a photo illustrated instruction manual and a complete hardware package.
This model was in my shop for far too long for several reasons. First, as you may have heard, Florida had a few hurricanes this season. Two of them came through my front yard, but were downgraded to tropical storms by then. However, my electricity didn't notice the difference between the two when it went out and stayed out for quite some time.
In the mean time, I had a shoulder surgery that laid me up for a while. Lastly, getting a propulsion package assembled together that would actually work kept me stuck for a couple weeks while items were being shipped back and forth. More griping about this to come.
