Models designed after 1956 are considered modern models. The AMA competition rules only restrict the engine size ( measured in cubic inch displacement) per class and engine run time and “Max” time limit by 3 categories of competition. There are no restrictions to size, weight, or model design. Class 1/2A = .000-.050 / Class A = .051 - .200 / Class B = .201 - .300 / Class C = .301 - .400 and Class D = .401- .67. Contests may be flown as Category 1 ( 12 sec. engine run and 5 min. max), Category 2 ( 9 sec. engine run and 3 min. max), and Category 3 ( 7 sec. engine run and 2 min. max).

| Satellite Super D |
B-110 |
 |
| The Satellite Super D is based on the Satellite 1300, originally designed by Bob Hunter in 1959 and upgraded to the series 70 in 1970. The BMJR Super D stabilizer has been reduced from 58% to 35% of the wing area which is intended to improve the power pattern with today’s hot 60 size engines. Model may be built in the classic style with vertical and horizontal stab as one unit, or with the vertical stab aft in the fuselage to accommodate auto surfaces.

| Space Rod |
B-111 |
 |
| Designed in 1957 by Vic Cunnyngham the Space-Rod evolved from Sal Tabibi’s Spacer and Ron St.Jean’s Ramrod. The design inherited the best qualities of both models and set 10 free flight records. Although not Nostalgia legal, the Space-Rod with a TD .049/.051 (flown to Nostalgia rules) has been selected for NFFS one-design National competition in 2001. 60 laser cut parts.

| Bounty Hunter |
B-120 |
 |
| The Bounty Hunter was designed by Dick “Fast Richard” Mathis in 1961 as a relatively large 1/2A with a 416 sq. in. wing. The original had a low-thrust line with a shallow climb angle. But after watching Russ Hansen’s T-Bird the engine was moved to a high-thrust configuration producing a near vertical climb. The 416 version was published in American Modeler and produced as a kit by Model Aircraft Labs in the early 60’s. For 2007 National Free Flight Society One-Design competition it has been scaled by Fast Richard himself to 245 sq. in. which makes it a competitive model for classic gas competition with today’s shorter engine runs. The Bounty Hunter is a display of the Dick Mathis design signature: high-thrust, swept tips, pylon, inverted fin, flat center panel, angular lines, ”birdcage” structure, and HLG airfoil.

| 1/2A Viking |
B-128 |
 |
| The BMJR version of Carl Goldberg's 1/2A Viking is scaled to 84% of the original by John Anderson for the National Free Flight Society one design competition at the 2011 Nats. Model retains all the lines of the original, and the same flight characteristics except for a faster climb. Kit also has exterior instead of center spars for a stiffer wing. Although the Viking designed in the 1960 is not Nostalgia legal, the one-design event is to be flown to Nostalgia rules, with any Nostalgia legal or TD.049 engine. Model has a 42: spa with area of 265 sq. in. |
