BMJR was founded in 1996 with a focus on Free Flight models; Specifically Nostalgia and Old Time Replica, for both sport and competition flying. We support the National Free Flight Society (NFFS), the Society of Antique Modelers (SAM), the Flying Aces Club (FAC), and of Course the Academy of Model Aeronautics (AMA). We are fortunate to have Palm Bay Florida as our home field, which is maintained by the Florida Modelers Association (FMA) as a primmer Free Flight Site, hosting several FF contests each year for National Cup points and culminating in December with the King Orange. Please contact us for more information about the FMA and the Palm Bay site.
Of course the modeling emphasis today is R/C, which we also enjoy, and have developed R/C assisted free flight kits of models for SAM Texaco competition, and electric Park Flyers for today's "small field" environment. We have joined the Vintage R/C Society (VRCS) and included in our line a collection of ﾽ size models of classic R/C pattern ships.
In the early 1960's growing up in Miami Florida I flew with the Opa-Locka Flying Knights and the North Miami Screaming Demons with our primary interest being Control Line. This interest was rekindled a couple years ago and recently we have found an active Control Line community here in Florida and are eager to pursue more CL models from our past.
BMJR does not carry any ARF's or ready to fly models. Our modeling enjoyment comes from the "building" as much as the flying. Fortunately in 1996, starting with Frank Ehlings Timers Nightmare, we were introduced to CAD and Laser Cutting Technology which has allowed us to not only build and fly, but turn into laser cut kits these models we love.
